The artichoke is originally from the Middle East, the phytotherapists of Egyptians and Greeks used it normally. In the 4th century B.C. it was already cultivated by the Arabs, who introduced it to Italy from 300 BC, thus gradually entering the Italian kitchen. In 1500 it was even considered an aphrodisiac.
