Curiosity

Sauce with “undergrowth” taste prepared with only Italian tomatoes, tasty and renowned porcini mushrooms, with the addition of chestnuts from Garessio, a Piedmontese mountain town, with a sweet and delicate flavor whose cultivation dates back to 1200. The tomato originates from the Central and South America. In 1540 Hernán Cortés returned to Spain and brought some specimens. While in 1544 there are already Italian documents that report the beginning of cultivation especially in Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and southern Italy. It was initially thought to be a poisonous plant and was adopted only as a decorative plant. Only at the end of the eighteenth century did the cultivation of tomatoes for food have a strong impulse in Europe.
